Capitalism Alone is Nothing
In recent days, the idea of Capitalism has been under attack in America. It is seen as an evil behind everything wrong in the world. Often, It is seen as the reason we have inequity and larger social disorder. Were it to be done away with, the world would be a much better place. I am not convinced of that and I probably stand with others in saying that Capitalism is not infallible and its the best we’ve got.
What the arguments against Capitalism often fail to see is that Capitalism on its own is nothing more than an idea. It has absolutely no ability to operate independent of some very strong partners. In a very real sense, Capitalism may very well be the most socially dependent economic philosophy there is. This is why we only see it work in certain countries and with certain conditions.
So what is Capitalism dependent upon?
Like most things, a certain level of complexity is required to understand what makes it actually work and to know it is not alone.
